Health Lottery Prizes Reduced

Saturday 14th July 2012 saw the last draw for the Health Lottery with the current prize structure, from Saturday 21st July the prizes for matching three or four numbers will be substantially lower than we have previously seen for this lottery game. A recent hearing in the High Court following an application by Camelot for a judicial review of the Gambling Commission’s refusal to conduct a wholesale review of the Health Lottery heard Thomas Sharpe QC state that “it is fair to say the project is still running at a weekly loss”.

UK Lottery Operator Website Shows Wrong Jackpot

Tonight anyone checking their Lotto tickets on the official National Lottery operators website may have been in for a bit of a shock as for a little while the results page showed a jackpot amount of £29,400,873 for the draw of Saturday 14th July 2012. Whilst the jackpot for the midweek draw had rolled over, the jackpot was actually nowhere near this amount but just £6,718,078

Irish Lottery Licence Talks Continue

An Post currently operate the Irish Lottery at a cost of around €3 million a year of 0.5% of revenue generated from the games but currently the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Brendan Howlin, is in talks with potential bidders for the next National Lottery Licence. It is rumoured that the licence holds value of around £400 million which would need to be paid upfront by the winning bidder.
