Up and down the country many lottery players use the same numbers week in week out when they play Lotto. Many of us use birthdates, anniversaries or meaningful dates when we choose our numbers. For one lucky couple this proved a lucrative way to play as they doubled their winnings on the Lotto draw on Saturday, 2nd June.

The winning numbers for this draw were 16, 18, 20, 25, 29, 34 with bonus ball 15. For John Ord and his wife Karen this meant a match 5+ bonus prize of £96,527. As if this prize wasn't enough a mix-up with ticket purchasing meant both John and his wife each brought a ticket for the Lotto draw not realising the other had already done so.

The couple's numbers were a combination of family birthdates and both had got their tickets in the same local post office on the same day! The lottery odds for matching 5+ the bonus are 1 in 2,330,636 so this couple did really well to do it twice in the same day. There were 12 other winning tickets in the second prize tier level for this draw and one lucky winner took home a jackpot of £4,392,003 this

John and Karen Ord are keeping their celebrations low-key but plan to treat their four sons, aged between 12 and 17, to a holiday abroad. Mr Ord does have his eye on a new car though!

If you live in the Gateshead area and fancy purchasing your ticket in the lucky post office it's at the Carey Newsagents at the Metro station in Heworth. Alternatively you could try you luck online.
